November 22, 2022 // Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear SPS Staff and Community,

In the last two weeks, we have seen a significant shift in our weather patterns, which makes me think about the impacts of weather events on the schools. Most often, we do not see historic snowstorms like the areas around Buffalo, NY. More typical are events much less impactful and, frankly, harder for Superintendents to make a good call. The open/close/delay decision is made by seeking input from local weather services, Sudbury DPW, Sudbury Police, and area superintendents. The decision starts with an assumption that schools will be open and will operate on a regular schedule; weather and travel conditions will determine if closing or a delay is necessary to ensure the safety of students, caretakers, and staff. The full procedures can be found by following this link to the District’s website.

I had the pleasure of representing SPS at the HOPEsudbury Telethon. You may find this informational interview of interest. I share our service learning efforts and preview the proposed Curtis Outdoor Wellness Structure. Thank you to HOPEsudbury for all of the good work they do in the community.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving break! I hope that you are able to spend time with family and friends, relax and rejuvenate. I am grateful for the strong start to the school year and how hard teachers, staff, and students are working. The vacation is a well-deserved break from our normal routines, and we will return to school with added energy! Enjoy the time.

With gratitude,

Brad Crozier,

Superintendent of Schools
