August 30, 2022 // First Day of School Reminders

Dear SPS Families:

I want to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! We are excited to have the students back in their daily routines full of learning, fun, and support. We are on the doorstep of the year, so I wanted to provide a couple of reminders.

Back to School Packets

Back to School Packets are available in your Aspen Family Portal. Please be sure to fill this out as soon as possible as it contains essential information required every year. Transportation plans, medical permissions, updated contact information, and technology permissions are all critical information for us to have ASAP. If you need assistance accessing your ASPEN portal, please contact the front office staff at your child’s school. Support on how to complete the packet can be found on the district website.

School Breakfast and Lunch Information

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has decided to extend free school meals for all students through the 2022-2023 school year! This means that breakfast and lunch will continue to be served at no cost to all students. Here is a link to the food services page with up-to-date information, including links to the lunch menu and the free breakfast enrollment form.

Transportation

I also wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of some road closures that could impact traffic, not only for buses but for those who drive to school. Please be patient with the timing of the bus routes, as families and drivers are becoming accustomed to traffic patterns and the school year. From the DPW website:

Marlboro Road

Marlboro Road is anticipated to be closed at the Pantry Brook crossing on MONDAY, AUGUST 29, 2022, FOR APPROXIMATELY 6-WEEKS for a culvert replacement and embankment stabilization project. The closure location is at 270 Marlboro Road or approximately 1,000 feet west of the intersection of Haynes Rd and Marlboro Rd.

Sudbury Roadway Pavement Management Program

The Department of Public Works is in the process of repairing many roads in town. One of those is Pratts Mill. This will certainly affect traffic around the middle school. There is a clear detour to follow if you enter Pratts Mill via Dutton Road. Please allow for extra time if you are driving to the middle school. A link to those roads affected is shared here.

School Calendar

Please be sure to reference the district calendar for important dates such as Back-to-School Nights, Early Release Days, and School Holidays. The first Superintendent’s PIE (Parent Information Exchange) will be held on September 29th, from 11-12 noon. A link will be sent out closer to the date.

We are looking forward to partnering with you as we embark on another year of learning.

Sincerely,

Brad Crozier

Superintendent
