The present Israel Loring Elementary School building was built in 1999 on the site of the original Israel Loring Elementary School that dated from the early 1960's. We opened our doors for students on September 8, 1999.
The school was named for Reverend Israel Loring who was the first minister to the Sudbury territory west of the river. Reverend Loring was respected throughout the Bay Colony as a preacher and writer of extraordinary eloquence. Eleven of his works were published and widely read. Reverend Loring's parsonage still stands in Sudbury Center, just east of the Town Hall. Reverend Loring had preached for sixty-six years at the time of his death at the age of 90.

Using data from the 2012-2013 student connectedness survey we have updated our school-wide behavior response system to include a column dedicated to expected, or core value, behaviors. The vast majority of our students each day exhibit the core values throughout Loring. The initial rubric was previously developed during the 2011-2012 school year based upon our district-wide bullying-prevention initiative and input from both students and staff. Our new community chart is discussed in each classroom with students. The result is a clear picture of positive student behaviors for the students to strive towards. It is our mission to provide the highest quality education to all children in the safest environment possible while embracing diversity, individual talents and creativity, and the overall joy of learning.
It is our vision that all students obtain a strong education that will assist them in becoming responsible citizens, future leaders, and life-long learners by providing:
Show respect for oneself, students, teachers, parents, and the individual differences that make each person a valued member of the Loring community.
Be responsible for one's actions and one's work, as well as to be responsible to others and the common mission of our school.
Strive for academic achievement and success through determination and risk-taking in both teaching and learning, creating an enthusiastic love of learning.
Show empathy, kindness, and tolerance for those around us, to value honesty and integrity, and to show a spirit of cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork.
