The State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted to adopt the Common Core Standards (CCS) in math and English language arts (ELA). Massachusetts is the 27th state to adopt the CCS. All districts in the state will be expected to align their curricula to the new standards by the start of the 2012-13 school year.
